Cheapest option: Setting-Type (Hot Mud) at $266.00All-purpose pre-mixed compound works for most residential finishing. Lightweight is easier to sand. Setting-type (hot mud) is best for the first coat on joints as it resists cracking and can be recoated the same day.
Setting-type compound noteSetting-type (hot mud) must be mixed from powder and sets chemically rather than by drying. It cannot be re-softened once set, so only mix what you can use within the working time printed on the bag (typically 20, 45, or 90 minutes).
This is a material estimate only. Actual compound usage varies with finish level, technique, and joint spacing. Setting-type quantities assume dry powder mixed to standard consistency. Always buy extra for sanding waste and touch-ups.
